Measures undertaken by the Registrar of Companies to assist Cyprus companies affected by COVID 19

Following the measures taken by the Cyprus government to support companies and businesses affected by the strict measures imposed to limit the spread of COVID-19, the Registrar of Companies announces the following measures:

1. The submission of due Annual Reports:

The publication process at the Official Gazette of the Republic of Cyprus following the three months' notice before the strike off of non-compliant companies is now suspended until January 2021.

2. Payment of the annual levy:

The deadline to pay the annual levy for 2020 is extended until 31st December 2020 without the imposition of the penalty of the additional charge of 10% and thereafter 30% upon the amount of Euro 350.

3. Imposition of a fee for late submission of forms to the Registrar of Companies:

Following the amending law of Companies Law, CAP113, Law of 38(I)/2020, the implementation of the monetary penalty for late submission of statutory forms to the Registrar of Companies will be postponed until 18 December 2020.

4. Submission of the Annual Reports for 2020:

Annual Reports dated from 1st January 2020 to 31st December 2020 must be submitted with the Registrar of Companies by 28th January 2021, to avoid the imposition of the additional charge of Euro 20 for late submission.

5. Filing of Documents

Due to COVID-19 outbreak, the Registrar of Companies has now implemented a procedure in an effort to minimise the spread of the virus. The Registrar of Companies will only accept documents that are submitted on designated boxes placed at the entrance of the building between 09:00 and 11:00. The documents must be in sealed envelopes and must designate the relevant sector together with the details of the applicant for correspondence purposes must be included together with the cheque stating the proposed amount.
